Bezier Curve

Bezier Curves are defined by segments. The segments are defined by a start point, end point and two control points.

The example to the left shows the contents of the Graphic Details Inspector when a Bezier Curve is selected. To view this information use the Graphic Details menu command found on the Tools menu of the Main menu.

To show the information for a Bezier Curve item on a drawing, the Inspector must be open and the Bezier Curve must be selected. The Bezier Curve of interest must be the only item selected.

The Segment text box under the Segments heading selects the segment whose information is shown in the Graphic Details Inspector. The stepper is used to sequence through each segment, or a number may be entered to select a specific segment. Segments are numbered from 1 to the number of segments. Segment 0 (zero) is unique, it defines the initial point of the curve, this segment has no control points. Other segments are defined by two control points and an end point.

The segment number shown will follow the mouse click or move of a handle on the drawing. The segment number under investigation is shown on the drawing with Orange handles, the other vertices' handles are shown brown in color. The controls for the focused segment are drawn in pink, the others are shown in blue. When a Bezier Curve is selected the last segment modified is shown in the information Inspector.

The coordinates for the two control points and the end point of the selected segment are shown in the numeric text boxes. The location of any of these may be changed by entering a new number.

These lengths are shown in the Units (cm, inches, points, ...) defined for the document on the Scale parameter panel. Each coordinate is the distance from the origin which is defined on the Scale panel and may be adjusted by dragging a Ruler .

The total number of segments will not accept an new entry. To add a segment use the Insert Vertex Tool .
