Connector

Connectors are defined by the two graphics that they connect, and two attach indices "along" the outline or path of these graphics.

The example to the left shows the contents of the Graphic Details Inspector when a Connector is selected. To view this information use the Graphic Details menu command found on the Tools menu of the Main menu.

To show the information for a Connector item on a drawing, the Inspector must be open and the Connector must be selected. The Connector of interest must be the only item selected.

The two attached graphics are shown in the Start and End numeric text boxes under the "Attached" heading. You may move the connector to another graphic by entering a new number in the appropriate numeric text box. The connector will jump to the new graphic and become attached to the point defined by the attach index. The stepper controls is used to sequence the selected connector through other graphics.

The attach indices define the position on the target graphic that receives the connector. Each segment of an attached graphic is divided by the defined precision, then indices are assigned sequence along the graphic's outline or path. The Connector may be moved along this progression by using the appropriate stepper to increase (or decrease) the attach index. The results are shown as changes are made on the drawing.

Each connector has a defined precision. The allowed values are halves, thirds, quarters, and tenths. The precision may be changed using the popup menu under the Precision heading. A change in precision will generally affect both ends of the connector since the numbering of the Attached Indices are directly effected.

There is more information on this subject provided in the documentation of the Connector Creation Tool and the Connector Specification panel.

The indices of the attach graphics are not the same as the Drawing Order. These indices are the basic index assigned when the graphic is created. They best used by visually checking the attached graphic.
