Group - Graphic Details Inspector

Graphics may be combined in groups. Grouping may provide several functionalities to aid drawing activities. The resulting "Group" graphic may be manipulated as a single graphic. All manipulations apply individually to each graphic in the group.

Each group graphic has an internal drawing order. The group has a single position in the overall drawing order of the drawing. This drawing order information may be viewed and manipulated by selecting Graphic Details found on the Tools main menu.

The panel shown to the left is used to step through all the graphics in a group. As each member of the group is highlighted, the drawing order index is displayed in the text box. The buttons are self explanatory, the actions is used to move the group member's drawing order position.

The bottom button is used to drop a member from a group. This button is enabled for groups of 3 or more members.

The panel to the left is used to rearrange the drawing order of a graphic. The concept "Send" is used to describe the rearrangement action. To "send a graphic to the back" means it will become the first in the drawing order which in turn means it will be obscured by any other overlapping graphic.

The Group Edit Level is controlled by the "Edit" popup menu. The Group Edit level actually used for a group depends on the current settings for the drawing as well as the individual setting for the group. The Graphic Details popup menu indicates the interaction of the two setting by showing the individual selection with the check mark. The red label indicates that the level in effect is limited by the current drawing selection.

EazyDraw uses a "Painter's" algorithm when drawing graphics. Each individual graphic of a drawing is drawn in its entirety, one after another. Each graphic is drawn without regard for other graphics. If graphics do not overlap this drawing method is of no consequence. If graphics do overlap, the ones drawn first will be eclipsed by the ones drawn later.

Each individual graphic on a drawing has a specific position in the drawing order. The terms "back" and "front" are used to describe a graphic's relative position in the drawing order. The numeric value of the drawing order is shown in the text boxes.

Typing a number in the text window or using the stepper control doesn't change the drawing order of the selected graphics. The index value controls the selection of the graphic in the group, use the buttons to move the graphic in the drawing order.
