EazyDraw Top Pick Button |

Front Select Tool

This tool selects graphics by clicking them with the mouse cursor. It is used for picking graphics that are overlapping. It picks front graphics in preference to those further back (or behind other graphics) in the document. This button is the opposite of the Back Select Tool which picks back-most graphics first. The function may be modified to add to an existing set of selected graphics or remove graphics from an existing set of selections. The actual logic applied is determined by the radio button selection at the bottom of the Selection Tool Palette.

This button is found on the Selection Tool Palette . To use the button for this feature the Selection Tool Palette must be visible on the desk top. If it is not visible, use the "Selection" menu item under the "Views" menu of the Main menu to show the palette.

This selection procedure is performed by clicking the button shown at the top of the page. The cursor will change to an open arrow (pointing down and to the left) when moved over the top document window of EazyDraw. This is your visual clue that the front pick tool is selected. A click at a position of overlapping graphics will select the "front most" graphic of the stack.

The Shift Key is used to add graphics to a selection or toggle the selection of a graphics that does not overlap any other graphics. Clicks on non-overlapping graphics will select or deselect in the standard fashion of the default Arrow Tool.

The state of the radio buttons at the bottom of the selection tool panel determines the actual action of the tool. The following list defines these modifications.

Select
The selection state is cleared. The next click will cause a new selection with preference to graphics that are in front of other graphics
Deselect
The selection state is not cleared and any graphic clicked while in this mode is removed from the selection set.
Add
The selection state is not cleared and any graphic clicked while in this mode is added to the selection set.

Undo (Command Z) and redo (Command Shift Z) work with this tool.

This tool selection ends on completion. EazyDraw returns to the default Arrow Select Tool after each use of this tool. If you need to repeat the action click the button on the Selection Tool Palette.
