Equilateral Polygon Creation Tool

Drawing Equilateral Polygons

You use the "Equilateral Polygon Tool" (shown above) which is found on the Tools Palette to create equilateral polygons. If the palette is not visible open it by selecting "Tools" from the "View" item of the "Main Menu". The new equilateral polygon will be drawn on EazyDraw’s front window. The desired window must be brought to the front before clicking on the tool.

Equilateral Polygons are drawn by clicking the "Equilateral Polygon Tool Button" on the "Tools Palette". The "Number Creation Cursor" (shown above) will reflect the tool selection when the mouse is over the front (top) document window. The equilateral polygon is drawn with the mouse by a single click and drag sequence. The new equilateral polygon is shown as you drag the mouse. The center of the polygon is placed at the point of the initial mouse down click. The radius and defining angle follow the mouse drag movement.

The number of sides can be entered by typing a number on the keyboard while the polygon is being drawn, hence the number or "pound" shape of the creation cursor. You may also access and modify the number of sides from the Graphic Details Inspector .

The initial number of sides can be entered on the Stellate palette. There is a numeric field at the top of this palette that defines this initial value. This numeric field may be used to change the number of sides of an exisiting equilateral polygon too.

The new equilateral polygon becomes the only selected object after creation. You may move or resize the equilateral polygon by clicking inside the equilateral polygon or on one of the handles. If you need to place the equilateral polygon at a particular position, make it a certain size, or change the number of sides this may be accomplished after the creation step by using the Graphic Details Inspector to modify the specific parameters of the equilateral polygon.

If several equilateral polygons are needed, double click the equilateral polygon tool. The equilateral polygon tool selection will remain in effect after creation so that further equilateral polygons may be easily added to the document. Clicking another tool or the Arrow tool will release the equilateral polygon creation activity.

If equilateral polygons are needed frequently, the equilateral polygon tool may be added to the Toolbar. If you prefer this convenience use the Customize Toolbar item found under "View" on the "Main Menu". There you will see the "Equilateral Polygon Tool" button, just drag it to the position you prefer on the Toolbar.
