Zoom Drag

The Zoom Drag (or zoom a rectangle) button uses a selection rectangle defined by a standard click-drag procedure with the mouse. Upon completion of the drag, the defined region is expanded to fill the document window.

This button is found on the Zoom Tool Palette .

The Zoom Drag function is performed by clicking the button shown at the top of the page. The mouse cursor switches to a "magnifying glass" icon when over the document window. This is the visual clue that the Zoom Drag function is active. The next mouse click starts a drag operation that shows a rectangle as the mouse is moved over the document. When the mouse is released the portion of the drawing contained in the rectangle is centered in the document window and expanded to fill the window.

The resulting zoom factor is shown in the text box of the Zoom Palette at the completion of the process. If a specific zoom value is desired, it may be typed in the text box.

The Zoom Calibrate function is performed by clicking the button shown at the top of the page, on the Zoom tools palette.

You may drag the zoom rectangle off the document. This action generates a virtual zoom rectangle to include the document area even though it is not seen in the window.

Zoom has no relation to the size and presentation of the document when printed. To change the actual size of the document (number of pages) you use Page Layout . To change the scale or size of an individual page use Page Setup .

Undo and Redo work with this action. This can be useful for a quick check after a the zoom action.
