These parameters control the target content, and actual number values for the auto numbering action. The Target selection is used if new inserted text or annotations are to be added to selected graphics. The Number entry defines the first number of the sequence for the next numbering action.

If the Target parameter value is one that adds content (Annotation, Inserted Text, or Centered Text) then the Re-Number selection is not possible and the button is disabled.

The Target parameter value may be changed or disabled depending on the Selection Choice (lower right of panel) value. This selection is checked against the graphics selected to make sure a numbering action is possible. If your desired Target selection is altered or disabled, verify the setting for Choice.

The Target popup menu selection determines which content component of the graphics chosen will be the target of the auto numbering action. There are two basic possibilities, Inserted Text or Annotation Text. If one of the "Add" variations is selected, new connected text content will be added to the graphics chosen. In this case the Markers (Prefix or Suffix) can be used to insert a full text string including the numbers.

The First Number value specifies the initial number that will be used for the numbering action. After each graphic is numbered, the number is incremented by the Step value.

The Update checkbox indicates that the First number should be changed after the Number or Re-Number action. If not checked the First number value remains unchanged..

If one of the "Text or Annotation" target values is selected, the sequence is defined by the Order parameter - only. The sequence is defined independent of whether the target graphic has text or annotation content.

If one of the "Text or Annotation" target values is selected, and the selected graphic has both annotation and text content, the Annotation content is used.
