Font Style Panel

The Font Styles panel provides a method for inspecting and interacting with the collective font face and attributes of a text graphic.

This panel only works with normal text graphics, it is not compatible with Annotation text. A text box graphic needs to be in text editing mode with text selected to enable this panel. Also: to enable: The Font palette needs to be open. Summary: Font panel open, activly editing text to enable this menu selection.

This palette is accessed from the on the Font Submenu found at the top of the Text main menu.

The top panel displays the current run, see definition at the bottom of this page, of the selected text graphic. The lower portion of this area contains a description of the font family and attributes of the text run. If the run of text is long, only the first portion is displayed. If the run consists of only a space or other non-visible text, a filler example of text is shown.

The video recorder like controls can be used to navigate along the text of the inspecting text graphic. Each run may be investigated in sequence. These controls are shown when Document Styles is selected for inspection.

When Favorite Styles is selected a popup menu provides access to attribute sets. You may save a current set of attribues for future use, or apply a previously recorded set.

The Graphic Details Inspector provides a similiar user interface for inspecting and interacting with the full range of font and text attributes. This panel is best used to managing a set of attributes, the Graphic Details Inspector is more suited to actually setting and changing individual attributes.

For this panel, the term Document applies to the selected text graphic, not the full drawing including all text graphics.

An Attribute Run is defined as a continuous sequence of characters with fully common font and atribute selections. By this definition a run is broken with any change of the font face, such as bold or point size.
