Bind Use this action to combine a group of graphics in a manner that will hold constant each graphic's size. Resizing a "Bind" group adjusts the spacing between the constituent graphics but not adjust their size. If you are familiar with the termonolgy of astronomy you can think of this grouping form as a Hubble group. Two or more graphics must be selected for this menu selection to apply. This command is found on the Format main menu, Grouping submenu.
This resizing constraint applies for interactive adjustment of the group size using the on-screen handles. The resizing constraint applies for scaling with the Morph sheet. This method allows a set of graphics to be pulled apart or squeezed together with no change of individual sizes of the graphics. The re-positioning of group graphics is based on the geometric centers of each graphic. If all centers are coincident (at the same point) the mathematics of this operation will degenerate and re-sizing of the group is not possible. If a group of graphics all have the same centers, the Bind menu command is not enabled. If a Bind group is decreased in height and width the centers of all graphics will converge to a single point. If all were to reach the point of common centers the bind group's width and height could not be increased in a defined manner. The interactive re-size of a Bind group has an arbitrary but small limit on minimum height and width to prevent this situation. |
